Celebration of the Life of Basker Vashee and of the 40th Anniversary of the LSE student sit-in
A recent reunion in Paris with an old comrade from LSE and IS days, Sabby Sagall, prompted me to post this 1967 tribute to a fellow militant of those heady days when left-wing LSE students proudly held high the banner of socialist internationalism and earned ourselves the Daily Telegraph's supreme insult of 'Rentacrowd' - the late Basker Vashee . No doubt the upcoming celebrations of the 40th anniversary of May '68 will see another outburst of nostalgia. But the real battles lie ahead of us.
